Keeps a business's money records accurate: bills, payments, payroll and accounts.
Read the full guide
Bookkeepers and accounting clerks record what a business earns and spends and keep its books balanced. Billing clerks send out bills, payroll clerks make sure everyone is paid right, and bill collectors follow up on late payments. Others work in banks and insurance companies as credit and loan clerks, new accounts clerks, brokerage clerks, and insurance claims and policy clerks. Most of the work is at a computer, with numbers, spreadsheets and accounting software.
